Occurrence of food allergy is very common among-st the people. Large section of people suffers from one or the other type of food allergy. It occurs when our body’s immune system reacts adversely to a particular type of food. These proteins which react against those certain foods are known as Food Allergens.
The immune system reacts adversely when it identifies that that particular food item is harmful for our body. In order to protect the body from these harmful substances the body releases a chemical called Histamines. This chemical generates all the allergy symptoms such as related to skin allergy, gastrointestinal allergy, and cardiovascular allergy.
Some of the few symptoms of food allergy are such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, swelling of throat and tongue. It also causes blood pressure, difficulties in breathing, unconsciousness and even death in extreme cases of food allergies. These symptoms start showing immediately whenever that harmful food particle is consumed. There is no permanent solution for food allergies but you can only avoid those items which prove to be hazardous to your body causing allergies.
Even avoiding too many foods which cause allergic reactions to your body is harmful since the vital nutrients have to be consumed so that the body’s immune system functions smoothly. So, at this point of time it is advisable to take advice from your physician.
The problem with food allergies is that in some cases it can take very long for the symptoms to appear. But in cases when they do show up, food allergy can be identified by the following symptoms:
Itching in the throat, skin and the mouth. Nausea and other such related symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps. These symptoms when put together are known as gastrointestinal hypersensitivity. Scratchy throat, shortness of breath, difficulty in swallowing and wheezing. Nasal congestion Angioedema: swelling up of soft tissue Rhinorrhea Anaphylaxis: it is a very dangerous reaction which can prove to be fatal and occurs throughout the body.
Sometimes it may also lead to unconsciousness
People who have the topic syndrome often show many symptoms of food allergy. Topic syndrome refers to the combination of several diseases like asthma, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and eczema. The topic syndrome is hereditary in nature and if one has a family history with this syndrome than it is very likely that he or she will also be affected by it. If any of the above mentioned symptoms are seen, then one must consult the doctor and get a checkup for food allergy.
